Now what price shall suffice for such a treasure? Yes, yes, only an inclination of the heart to lend a loving and faithful ear to [the Lord’s] messages, which will arrive most beautifully, like a precious pearl, to ornament the ears [of the hearts] of those so inclined. Only bow your head to have the spiritual diadem placed upon it, and adorn you much more than precious gems. Only dispose yourself to the royal calling and let the sweet taste of meat satisfy your palate. Only thirst for love, and let the Fount of Life quench your keen thirst. Only wash yourself of dirt, and let the garment of unfading light cover you more finely than the fragrant flower of the lily.
