Yet when they are in the clutches of the deep abysses which resound with hollow murmurings, stricken with terror, they foresee their final moments. But then, seeing themselves upon the imposing flood of troubled waters, they call to mind their abilities and strive to overcome the perilous sea, that perhaps they will return with their discovered profits, show them to their families and boast of their rewards to their neighbors. For where people are gripped by taxes and constraints, they shake off the name of poverty and free their friends from the tyranny of coercive rulers, paying off their debts with their own profits and freeing them from the yoke of servitude to kings. Thus, they do goodness to their friends, earn a glorious reputation among their enemies, and bring joy to their loved ones.
