The blissful man then took his faithful ones and rushed down to the unruly and neglected place, Goghtan. The prince of Goghtan, a pious and God-loving man named Shabit, went out to meet him. He proved^{1cf. 2 Cor 8:22} to be most hospitable, and devoutly served them in keeping with the faith of the disciples of Christ. At once, the blissful man brought along^{2cf. 2 Peter 1:5, παρεισφέρω} proof^{3cf. Acts 1:3, τεκμήριον} of the good tidings and captured the whole district with the loyal support of the prince. Taking everyone captive from their patrimonial traditions and from diabolical devil-worship, he offered them in subjection to Christ.^{4“Իսկ երանելւոյն … մատուցանէր։”, cf. Agathangelos 887}

And when the Word of Life was sown within them, evidently great signs appeared to the inhabitants of the district, with the demons who had assumed all kinds of forms fleeing into the regions of Media.^{5cf. Agathangelos 785} Similarly, he worried all the more about consoling the general public, with more prayers ever on his lips, supplications to God with arms outstretched, and tears ever flowing from his eyes. And pondering the Apostolic saying, he said solicitously: “I harbor sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart for the sake of my brothers and my kindred.”^{6Romans 9:2-3}

And thus, besieged and ensnared by grievous distress,^{7cf. Matthew 26:37} he fell into the tempest of his thoughts,^{8cf. Prov 26:10, χειμάζω; Chrysostom, χειμῶνα τῶν λογισμῶν]} as to how he might find a way out of these situations.
