Agathangelos' History of the Armenians

And they fill the needy with the abundance of heaven; and for those in need of work they prepare rest, and provide sufficient remedies full of goodness. They can provide healing without medicinal herbs, spices and root extracts; they can grant development to cities by the benevolence of their Lord; they can exalt the country with their heroic prayers; they can show the way of ascent along the heavenly journey toward God; they are the guides on the journey toward the kingdom of God. They are the ones who bore torments and died for their Lord, and were transfigured to life, relinquishing the renown and benefits of the fruits of their bravery. They are life and redemption to those who have grown impoverished with sin; they are the heavenly king’s hidden treasure of greatness on earth; they, through their faith, bring joy and happiness to those who lay up their treasures by God; they clothe the naked, and those who like Adam have become naked by sin they clothe in garments of light; they sate the hungry who are starving through their sins of ignorance; they quench the thirsty from the cup of virtue; and to those who have the heavenly treasure in great measure, they give yet more, for “whoever has will be given more” (Matthew 13:12); and before all they open the doors to the mercy of Christ, the lover of mankind. Thus did they love their Lord, and were they loved by Him, and through their intercession do they fulfill every need.
