We see the same compelling need to navigate upon the sea of wisdom, for no one can do this by his own sweat and labors but for the command of a ruler obliging him to take it upon himself to do so. Yet who can boast that he has examined the deep abysses of the ocean? People who commit themselves to such voyages do so to profit from the market. In the same way, it is not that we mindlessly set sail upon the scholarly sea of history out of youthful audacity, but unwillingly, according to the imposing demands of our stringent rulers.

Սոյն օրինակ տեսանեմք հարկ վտանգի հասեալ ստիպեալ զմեզ, առաւել ի հարկէ նաւեալք ի վերայ իմաստութեան ծովուն. զի ոչ ոք է ամենեւին այն ի մարդկանէ, որ կարող իցէ զայսպիսի ջան վաստակոց քրտնալից աշխատութեամբ անձամբ անձին մատուցանել, եթէ ոչ իշխանութեան հրամանի հասեալ՝ ստիպեալ զայս առնել տալ տագնապիցէ. եւ ո՞վ այն իցէ կարող, որ զխորս անդնդոց ծովուն քննել խրոխտիցի. այլ շահս օգտութեան վաճառացն երկայն ճանապարհօքն անձանց եւ եթ կամին մատուցանել։ Սոյն օրինակ եւ մեք ոչ յանդգնութեամբ տղայաբար բարուք ինչ ի ներքս անկանել անմտաբար հոսեցաք, այլ ակամայ ընթացեալ ըստ հրամանացն ի բռնութենէ հարկապահանջ իշխանացն՝ դիմեալ նաւեցաք ի մատենայած ծովուս պատմութեան։
