Hedgehog (from Physiologus)

Hedgehog
There is an animal which crawls along [the ground], and is shaped like a sphere. Its back is thoroughly armed with quills, which resemble those of the sea-urchin. When it moves about, it resembles a mouse. Physiologus says about the hedgehog, that when it climbs up a grape vine, it throws the fruits down—where they scatter about on the ground. Then it comes and rolls around on top of them and the grapes stick to its quills. Taking them, it goes and delivers them to its young, leaving behind the empty vines.
