Աղաւթք ի ժամ մահուն Զուիթայ

Արարիչ մեր, որ արարեր զերկինս եւ զերկիր եւ զծով յոչընչէ, եւ ստեղծեր զմեզ ի հողոյ, եւ զհողեղէնս այսպէս իմաստունս բանաւորս եւ կենդանիս արարեր: Եւ շնորհեցեր մեզ զգիտութիւն քո, զոր ցուցեր ազգաց որդւոց մարդկան ի ձեռն սրբոց քոց մարգարէիցն կարապետացն քոց. եւ դու քեզէն եկիր իջեր մարդացար երեւեցար յերկրի, եւ ընդ մարդկան շրջեցար. եւ զկատարեալ իմաստութիւնդ քո շնորհեցեր արարածոց քոց, զոր Առաքելովքն քարոզեցեր քոց ստացուածոց յաշխարհի: Եւ վարդապետաւքն սրբովք, զորս եդիր ի քում յեկեղեցւոջ լուսաւորս, զամենեսեան իմաստնացուցեր: Եւ զիս զայր զանարժան արժանի արարեր քում ծառայութեանդ. եւ պատրաստեցեր զիս տառապեալս սնանել եւ ուսանել ընդ ձեռաւք քո սրբոյ եւ մեծի եւ քո քահանայապետին Ներսիսի քո պաշտաւնէին, եւ ի ձեռաց նորա առնուլ զձեռնադրութիւն երիցութեան, եւ ի ձեռաց նորա զիս նուիրեալ քեզ ի քահանայութեան: Եւ յայնմ աշտիճանէ պատրաստեցեր ըմպել զվկայութեան բաժակն փրկութեան, զոր ըմբելով զանուն տեառն կարդացից. զաղաւթս իմ ես տեառն տաց առաջի ամենայն ժողովրդոց նորա: Ընդ որում քեզ փառք եւ զաւրութիւն եւ իշխանութիւն միածնի Որդւոյ քո սիրելոյ Յիսուսի Քրիստոսի, եւ կենդանարար Հոգւոյդ քում սրբոյ, յառաջ քան զամենայն յաւիտեանս այժմ եւ միշտ եւ յաւիտեանս յաւիտենից. ամէն:  

Եւ իբրեւ զայս ամենայն ասաց, բազում մարդիկ ամբոխի ժողովեալ էին, ասացին զամէնն: Ապա զայրացեալք վերակացուք սպանողութեանն, թէ ընդէր այնչափ երկար թողացուցին նմա խաւսել, ապա տագնապաւ ի տեղի մահուն հասուցանէին: Իսկ նա մեծաւ խնդութեամբ կարկառեալ զպարանոցն, վճարէր ի սուսերէն:

Prayer at the time of Zuit’s death

“Our Creator, who made the heavens and earth and sea from nothing, and created us from dust, and made us wise, rational and living. You granted us Your knowledge, which You demonstrated to the ages of the sons of men through your holy prophets and your forerunners. You Yourself came down, became incarnate, revealed Yourself on earth and walked among men. Upon Your creatures You bestowed Your perfect wisdom, which You preached through Your apostles to Your earthly possessions, and made everyone wise through Your holy vardapets, whom You placed in Your church as luminaries. My unworthy self You made worthy of Your service; my poor self You prepared to be nourished and taught by Your great holy chief priest and minister Nerses, to receive ordination through him and to thus dedicate myself to You in priesthood, from which rank you prepared me to drink from the martyr’s cup of salvation, that in so doing I would call upon the name of the Lord, to whom I shall dedicate my prayers before all His people, and to whom glory and power and majesty, with the Only-begotten beloved Son Jesus Christ and the life-giving Holy Spirit who preceded all eternity, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.”  

When he said all this, the great crowd that had gathered said Amen. Then the officers presiding over his execution were angry that they had allowed him to speak at such length and swiftly escorted him to the spot of his execution, where with great joy he offered his neck to the sword.
