Diseased by vainglory, the seeds were preparing to rule over each other. Barley made a parade of itself as a 60-er [i.e., one who yields 60-fold], and millet as a 100-er [i.e., one who yields 100-fold]. Wheat alone was silent. When their king observed its humility (since those [seeds] that are food for animals and beasts were [trying to] surpass each other, whereas the wheat remained calm) he made [the wheat] his own relative.

The fable means that to be a member of Christ, one need no other power than humility, which the Lord became human to impart.
