Վասն անգեղայ

Բարոյախաւսն ասէ զանգեղէ թէ ի բարձուանդակի եւ ի կակաջս եւ ի քարանձաւս եւ ի կատարս լերանց բնակէ. Եւ յորժամ կամեսցի, երթայ ի Հնդիկս եւ առնու զակն դիւրածին. եւ ակն այն ընկուզազարդ է բոլորակ. Եթէ կամեսցիս շարժել՝ այլ ակն ի ներքոյ խաղայ եւ իբրեւ զանկակ խաղայ ի ներքոյ եւ ձայն տայ։ Եւ եթէ երկն հասանիցէ նմա՝ երթայ նստի անգղն ի վերայ ականն եւ ծնանի։

Vulture

Physiologus says about the vulture that it dwells on the heights, on heaps of stones, in caves, and on the peaks of mountains. When it choses, [the vulture] goes to India and takes along a stone, which makes for easy child-birth. This gem has the rounded shape of a walnut. If someone wants to move it, another gem stirs inside it and rings like a bell. When the time for child-birth approaches, [the pregnant female] goes and sits [on the gem] and gives birth [painlessly].
