Վասն կաքաւոյ

Բարոյախաւս ասէ զկաքաւէ եթէ զայլոց ձուս թխէ եւ ձագս հանէ. քանզի զաւտարին ձուս գողանայ եւ յիւր բունն տանի. եւ մինչ չկարէ հանդարտել թխոյն վասն բազում ձագուցն. Երթայ կուտէ խռիւ ինչ եւ թոյլ տայ որ ցամաքի. Եւ այնպէս խռուովն հանդերձ թխէ։ Իսկ յորժամ աճեն ձագքն եւ թռչին՝ յիւրաքանչիւր յազգսն երթան առ իւրաքանչիւր ծնաւղսն եւ զնա միայն իբրեւ զանմիտ լքանեն։

Partridge

Physiologus says about the partridge that it sits on the eggs of others and hatches [their] chicks. This is because it steals the eggs of others and takes them to its own nest, where it gets no rest from sitting on the eggs, due to the multitude of chicks. After this, [to protect its nest] it goes and gathers some brushwood and lets it dry out, and then continues to sit on the eggs, surrounded by the brushwood. When the chicks grow, they fly off—each to its own kind and parents. And they abandon the partridge there, like a fool.
