Վասն քաղանդրի

Է թռչուն ինչ, որ կոչի քաղանդրոս։ Համակ սպիտակ է եւ ամենեւին վեւութիւն ի նմա ոչ գոյ. աղբ փորոյ նորա բժշկէ զաչս շլացեալս։ Եւ ի թագաւորաց ուրեք յարքունիս գտանի։ Եթէ հիւանդ ոք իցէ եւ հիւանդութիւնն մահու իցէ՝ իբրեւ տեսանէ զհիւանդն դարձուցանէ զերեսս իւր ի նմանէ քաղանդրն. եւ ամենեքեան ճանաչեն թէ մահու իցէ. ապա թէ կենաց իցէ հիւանդն՝ պշնու ընդ նա քաղանդրն եւ զհիւանդութիւնն յինքն կլանէ զախտարարն. եւ փարատին ցաւքն եւ ապրի հիւանդն։

Caladrius

There is a bird called the caladrius. It is entirely white, with no black on it at all. The dung from its gut is a cure for weak eyes. It is found in the courts of kings everywhere. Now should a person be sick with a fatal illness, and should the bird be brought there, if it turns its face away from the sick person everyone understands that the person will die. On the other hand, if the person is going to live, [the caladrius] will stare at [that person's] face and the sick person will stare at [the caladrius]. Then [the bird] absorbs that ailment, the sick person overcomes the illness, and survives.
