Ցոյցք Առաքելական Քարոզութեան

ԼԶ.

Եւ ելից զԴաւթի զխոստմունսն, քանզի խոստացաւ նմա Աստուած ի պտղոյ որովայնէ նորա յարուցանել թագաւոր յաւիտենական, որոյ թագաւորութեանն վախճան ոչ եղիցի։ Եւ թագաւորս սա՝ Քրիստոս Որդին Աստուծոյ, որդի մարդոյ եղեալ. Այսինքն է յայնմանէ, որ ի Դաւթայ զաւակն ունէր՝ ի կուսէն պտղաբերութիւն եղեալ. եւ վասն այսորիկ ի պտղոյ որովայնէ խոստումն եղեւ, որ է ուրոյն առանձինն կնոջ յղութեան ծնունդ, այլ ոչ ի պտղոյ միջոյ, եւ ոչ ի պտղոյ երիկամանց, որ է ուրոյն առանձինն առ ի ծնունդ. զի զուրոյնն զառանձինն զյատուկ զայն, որ ի Դաւթայ կուսական որովայնի պտղաբերութիւնն էր, զեկուսցի, որ թագաւոր էր ի վերայ տանն Դաւթայ յաւիտեանց, որոյ թագաւորութեանն վախճան ոչ եղիցի։

XXXVI.

He fulfilled His promises to David, for God promised that from the fruit of his body He would raise up an eternal king, whose kingdom would have no end. And this king is Christ, the Son of God, who became the Son of man; that is, who was a descendant of David, through the Virgin, because this promise pertained to bodily fruit, which requires a woman, and not the fruit of his loins or the fruit of his kidneys, which is man’s contribution. And the one-of-a-kind fruit of David, who was the fruit of the Virgin, came to announce that he would forever be king of the house of David, whose kingdom shall have no end.
