Ցոյցք Առաքելական Քարոզութեան

ԼԵ.

Արդ՝ ելից եւ զԱբրահամու զեղեալ զխոստումնն, զոր խոստացաւ նմա Աստուած առնել զզաւակն նորա իբր զաստեղս երկնից, քանզի զայս արար Քրիստոս յայնմանէ, որ Աբրահամէ զզաւակն ունէր, ի կուսէն ծնեալ եւ լուսաւորս յաշխարհի կազմեալ զհաւատացեալսն ի նա, ի ձեռն նորին հաւատոյ ընդ Աբրահամու արդարացուցեալ զհեթանոս. Քանզի հաւատաց Աբրահամ Աստուծոյ եւ համարեցաւ նմա յարդարութիւն. նմանապէս եւ մեք հաւատալով Աստուծոյ արդարանամք, քանզի արդար ի հաւատոց կեցցէ։ Արդ՝ ոչ ի ձեռն աւրինաց խոստումն Աբրահամու, այլ ի ձեռն հաւատոցն։ Քանզի արդարացաւ ի հաւատոց Աբրահամ, եւ արդարոյ աւրէնք ոչ կայ։ Նմանապէս եւ մեք ոչ ի ձեռն աւրինացն արդարանամք, այլ ի ձեռն հաւատոցն՝ վկայեցելոյն յաւրինացն եւ ի մարգարէից, զորս մատուցանէ մեզ բանն Ատուծոյ։

XXXV.

Then God fulfilled his promise to Abraham, which was to make his descendants as [numerous as] the stars of the heavens, for Christ accomplished this as a descendant of Abraham, being born of the Virgin, and fashioning His believers as stars in the sky (Philippians 2:15) by justifying the Gentiles through the faith of Abraham. “For Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness” (Galatians 3:6). We, too, are justified by believing God, for “the righteous shall live by faith” (Habakkuk 2:4; Galatians 3:11; Romans 1:17). “Now not by the law is the promise to Abraham, but by faith” (Romans 4:13). Abraham was justified by faith, for “the law is not made for the righteous man” (1 Timothy 1:9). Neither are we justified by the law, but by faith, which is attested by the laws and in the prophets, brought forth to us by the Word of God.
