Ցոյցք Առաքելական Քարոզութեան

ԼԴ.

Եւ այն, որ ի ձեռն փայտին յանցանքն էին, լուծաւ ի ձեռն փայտին հլութեան, զոր՝ լուեալ Աստուծոյ, Որդին մարդոյ բեւեռեցաւ ընդ փայտին, զչարին զգիտութիւն խափանելով, եւ զբարւոյն զգիտութիւն ի ներքս մուծանելով, եւ ստացուցանելով. եւ չար է տարալսել Աստուծոյ, որպէս լսեն Աստուծոյ բարի է։ Եւ վասն այսորիկ բանն ի ձեռն Եսայի մարգարէի ասէ հանդերձեալն եղիցիլ յառաջագոյն զեկուցանելով, քանզի վասն այսորիկ մարգարէք, զի զհանդերձեալսն պատմէին, արդ՝ ասէ ի ձեռն նորա բանն այսպէս, եթէ «Ես ոչ անաւանիմ եւ ոչ ընդդէմ ասեմ. զթիկունս իմ՝ եղի ի հարուածս, եւ զծնաւտս յապտակս եւ զդէմ իմ՝ ոչ դարձուցի ժամաց թքանաց»։ Արդ՝ ի ձեռն հլութեանն, զոր մինչ ի մահն լուաւ կախեալ զփայտէն, զին զեղեալն ի փայտին զտարալսութիւնն ելոյծ։ Եւ վասն զի ինքն է բանն Աստուծոյն ամենակալի, որ ըստ աներեւոյթ տեսլեանն է մեզ առհասարակ տարածեալ է յամենայն աշխարհիս, եւ շարունակէ եւ զերկայնութիւն սորա եւ զլայնութիւն եւ զբարձրութիւն եւ զխորութիւն, քանզի բանիւ Աստուծոյ բոլորքս տնաւրինեալ մատակարարի, եւ խաչեալ է ի սոսա Որդին Աստուծոյ՝ խաչաբար գծեալ յամենայնի. քանզի պարտ եւ արժան է նմա տեսանելի լինելով՝ երեւելիս ածել զամենայնիս զխաչակցութիւնն իւր՝ զի զներգործութիւնն իւր զայն ի յերեւելոցն ցուցցէ ի ձեռն երեւելի ձեւոյն, զի նա է որ լուսացուցանէ զբարձրութիւնն, այսինքն է զյերկինսն, եւ շարունակէ զխորն որ է ի ստորինս երկրի, եւ պրկեալ ձգէ զերկանութիւնն յարեւելից մինչեւ ի մուտս, եւ զսայլդ կողմն եւ զմիջաւրէի զլայնութիւնն նաւաստելով եւ առ կոչելով ամենայն ուստեք զցրուեալսն ի գիտութիւն Հաւրն։

XXXIV.

And the transgression that had been brought about by the tree was dissolved by the obedience of the tree, when, hearkening to God, the Son of man was nailed to the tree, impeding the knowledge of evil and instating the knowledge of good, and imparting it—that it is evil to disobey God, just as it is good to hearken to God. Therefore the Word said through the prophet Isaiah, announcing beforehand that which was to be, for prophets are those who prophesy. Now the Word spoke through him thus: “I do not resist and do not dissent: I give my back to those who strike me, and my cheeks to those who slap me, and I do not turn my face from spitting” (Isaiah 50:6). So through His obedience, with which He hearkened even unto death, hanging from the tree and dissolving its disobedience. And as He is the Word of the God Almighty who, being invisible to us, he permeates the entire world along its length, breadth, height and depth; for all of us are administered by the Word of God, and in this was crucified the Son of God, drawing the crucifix upon all. For it was necessary that He, being visible, should make his crucifixion visible in all things, effecting the visible [world] through His visible form, for it is He who illumines the heights, that is, of the heavens, and continues to the depths, that is, of the earth, and spans the length from East to West, and navigates the breadth from North to South, summoning everyone, wherever they may be scattered, to the knowledge of the Father.
