Ցոյցք Առաքելական Քարոզութեան

ԻԵ.

 

Եւ սովոյ կալեալ զամենայն երկիր, դէպ եղեւ յԵգիպտոս միայն կերակուր գոլ. արդ փոխեալ բնակեցաւ Յակովբ հանդերձ ամենայն զաւակաւն իւրով յԵգիպտոս։ Եւ էր թիւն ամենայն գաղթելոցն եւթանասուն եւ հինգ անձինք։ Եւ ի չորեքհարիւր ամս, որպէս պատգամն յառաջագոյն ասէ, վեց հարիւր եւ վաթսուն հազարք եղեն։

 

        Եւ վասն զի վշտացեալք եւ բռնահարեալք յոյժ լինէին չար ծառայութեամբ եւ հեծէին եւ հառաչէին առ Աստուած՝ Աստծուած հարցն, Աբրահամու եւ Սահակայ եւ Յակովբու, եհան զնոսա յԵգիպտոսէ ի ձեռն Մովսեսի եւ Ահարովնի հարեալ զԵգիպտացիան տասն հարուածովք, ի վերջնումն հարուածին սատակիչ հրեշտակ առաքեալ, զանդրանիկսն նոցա ապականեալ՝ ի մարդոյ մինչեւ յանասունս. ուստի ապրեցուց զորդիսն Իսրայելի, ի խորհրդեան երեւեցուցեալ զչարչարանսն Քրիստոսի՝ ի ձեռն զենման ոչխարի ամբծի եւ արեան նորա ի զգուշութիւն անվթարութեան տուեցելոյ ի տունս Եբրայեցւոցն աւծանել: Եւ անուն է խորհրդոյս այսորիկ կիրք՝ ազատութեան պատճառք։ 

 

        Եւ հերձեալ զկարմիր ծով, զորդիան Իսրայելի ամենայն զգուշութեամբ հասաց յանապատն եւ զհալածող զԵգիպտացիան, որ զկնի էին եւ մտին ի ծովն, կորեան ամենեքին. այս դատաստան Աստուծոյ եղեալ ի վերայ այնոցիկ, որ անիրաւաբարն չարչարէին զզաւակն Աբրահամու։

And when the whole land was seized by famine, it happened that there was only food in Egypt. Thus, Jacob moved there with all his descendants, seventy-five in number, and dwelt there. In 400 years, as had been prophesied, they became 660,000.

In the last plague, he sent a murderous angel and destroyed their first-borns, not only of their people but also their animals. Thus he saved the children of Israel, revealing the Passion of Christ through the sacrifice of the spotless lamb and by giving its blood to be smeared on the houses of the Hebrews as a precaution. The name of this mystery is the Passion—cause of liberation.

And dividing the Red Sea, He led the children of Israel into the desert with great care, but the Egyptians who were pursuing them entered the sea and were all swallowed up. This judgment of God befell those who had wrongfully suffered the descendants of Abraham.
