Ցոյցք Առաքելական Քարոզութեան

ԺԶ.

 

Զայս պատուիրան ո՛չ պահեաց, այլ տարալուաւ Աստուծոյ մարդն, մոլորեցեալ ի հրեշտակէն, որ վասն բազում Աստուծոյ պարգեւացն, զորս ետ մարդուն, նախանձ տարեալ ընդ նմա եւ չարակնեալ, եւ զինքն անպիտանեցոյց եւ զմարդն մեղաւոր արար՝ տարալսել զպատուիրանաւն Աստուծոյ հաւանեցուցեալ զնա: Արդ, նախպետ եւ առաջնորդ մեղաց եղեալ հրեշտակն ստութեամբ, եւ ինքն բախեցաւ՝ գթեալ յԱստուած, եւ զմարդն արար արտաքոյ ընկենուլ քան զդրախտն։ Եւ վասն զի ի ձեռն բարուց խրատուն ապստամբեալ ի բաց եկաց յԱստուծոյ, սատանայ կոչեցաւ ըստ եբրայական խաւսիցն, որ է ապստամբ. բայց նոյն ինքն նա եւ բանսարկու կոչի։

Արդ, Աստուած զաւձն, որ բարձեալ կրեաց զբանսարկուն՝ լուտացաւ, որ նզովք ի նոյն ինքն է կենդանին եւ յորջացեալ ղաւղեալ ի նմա հրեշտակն, ի սատանայ, եհաս, եւ զմարդն ի բաց ի դիմաց իւրոց արար՝ փոխեալ բնակեցուցեալ զնա առ ի դրաստն Ճանապարհի յայնժամ, քանզի զմեղաւոր ոչ ընդունի դրաստն:

This commandment was not kept; rather, man disobeyed God, led astray by the angel, who, because of the many gifts that God bestowed unto man, became jealous of him and looked upon him with envy, making himself worthless and making man a sinner by persuading him to disobey the commandment of God. So, the angel, becoming the chief and guide of sin through deception, was beaten, having failed God, and caused man to be thrown out from Paradise. And because he apostatized and abandoned God through his own conscience, he was called Satan in the Hebrew tongue, which is rebel. But the same one is also called the Accuser.

Then God scolded the serpent which bore the Accuser, and this curse came onto the animal itself and upon the angel concealed in him—upon Satan. But man was sent away from His presence, making him live beside the road to Paradise, for Paradise does not receive sinners.
