Ցոյցք Առաքելական Քարոզութեան

Ա.

Գիտացեալ, սիրելի իմ Մարկիանէ, զյոժարութիւնդ քո գառ ի յաստուածպաշտութիւնն գնացից, որ եւ միայնն ի յաւիտենական կեանսն տանի զմարդն, եւ խնդակից եմ ի քեզ եւ աղաւթս առնեմ՝ անպախ զհաւատն պահելով հաճոյ լինել արարողին զքեզ Աստուծոյ։ Եւ իցիւ եթէ ի միասին գոյր հնար միշտ լինել մեզ եւ միմեանց աւգուտ առնել եւ թեթեւացուցանել գառ ի յեկրիս կեանս՝ զանպարապութիւն ի ձեռն հանապազորդին վասն աւգտակարացն միաբանութեան խաւսից։ 

        

        Արդ, վասն զի յարդեան ժամանակիս մարմնապէս մեկուսի եմք, ի միմեանց, որպէս կարողութիւն է, ի ձեռն գրոյ ընդ քեզ սակաւ ինչ խաւսել ո՛չ դանդաղեցաք, եւ ի ձեռն համառաւտից զճշմարտութեանն ցուցանել քարոզութիւն՝ առ ի հաստատելոյ զքո հաւատդ իբրու թէ գլխաւորագոյն յիշատակարան առաքեմք քեզ, որպէս զի ի ձեռն սակաւուցն բազմաց իցես պատահեալ եւ զամենայն անդամս մարմնոյ ճշմարտութեանն ի ձեռն դուզնաքեաց իմացեալ, եւ զապացոյցս զիրացն յԱստուծոյ ի ձեռն համառաւտից ընկալեալ. քանզի այսպէս եւ զքոյինդ պտղաբերեսցէ զփրկութիւն, եւ ակնկորեցուսցես զամենեսին զսուտ կարծեցողսն. եւ ամենայնի, որ կամի ճանաչել՝ զմերն բան առողջ եւ անարատ հասուսցես ամենայն համարձակութեամբ։ 

        Քանզի մի է եւ վերաբեր ամենայն տեսողացն ճանապարհ լուսաւորեալ յերկնային լուսոյն, բայց բազումք եւ աղջամղջինք եւ ընդդիմահարք անտեսողացն ճանապարհք, եւ նա յերկնիցն տանի յարքայութիւն՝ միաւորելով զմարդն Աստուծոյ, իսկ այսք իջուցանեն ի մահ՝ մեկնելով զմարդն յԱստուծոյ։ Վասն որոյ հարկաւոր է եւ քեզ եւ ամենեցուն, որք հոգան անձանց փրկութեան՝ առանց խոտորել որ եւ քաջապինդ եւ հաստատուն գնացսն առնել ի ձեռն հաւատոյ, զի մի՛ թոյլ տուեալ եւ կասեցեալք՝ անցցեն մնասցեն ի նիւթական ցանկութիւնս, եւ կամ զարտուղեալք վրիպեսցեն յուղղէն։

Demonstration of the Apostolic Preaching

I.

Knowing, my dear Marcianus, your desire to walk in piety, which alone leads man to eternal life, I partake of your joy and pray that you, keeping your faith pure, may be pleasing to God your creator. I wish that it were possible for us to always be together, to be of service to one another and to relieve ourselves in this worldly life by filling our days discussing profitable things.

But, since we are now physically apart, I did not hesitate to speak a little with you, and undertake to briefly demonstrate the truth of the [Apostolic] preaching for the confirmation of your faith, so that I am in essence sending you a commentary, that through few [words] you may encounter much, and come to comprehend in brief all the members of the body of truth, and summarily receive a demonstration of the things of God. For thus may it bear the fruit of your salvation, that you may humble all those who presume falsehood, and to those who wish to understand you may boldly deliver our sound and pure words.

For the path of those who see is one and leads upward, illuminated by the heavenly light, but the paths of those who do not see are many, dark and contrary; this [path] leads to the kingdom of Heaven, uniting man with God, while those paths lead man down to his death, separating man from God. Therefore, it is necessary for you and for all those who care for the salvation of their souls to take, without deviating, a firm and steadfast course by your faith, lest you falter, remaining stuck in material desires, or err and deviate from the path.
